Sanur Special Economic Zone to Become a Global Health Tourism Destination

Construction on the new Bali International Hospital is in its final stages, with equipment installation set to begin soon. However, the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is more than just a hospital. The iconic Grand Inna Hotel Bali has been transformed into the central hub for the SEZ.

During a recent visit to Bali, the Minister for State-Owned Enterprises, Eric Thohir, inaugurated the Sanur Beach Convention Centre, Ethnomedicinal Botanical Garden, and broke ground for the new Alster Lake Clinic. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Thohir expressed his excitement about the potential of the SEZ to boost the Indonesian economy. He emphasized that Sanur was previously an under-utilized resource for both tourism and health services.

The Sanur SEZ covers an area of 42 hectares and has received significant investment. It is expected to create around 43,000 job opportunities. Minister Thohir also highlighted the development of an integrated health tourism ecosystem in the SEZ, which can attract domestic and foreign tourists, benefiting the local economy.

One of the remarkable health facilities in the SEZ is the Alster Lake Clinic, specializing in cell therapy under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Fred Fändrich. The clinic aims to provide innovative treatments for disease prevention, aging reversal, and chronic diseases that conventional medical treatments may not address effectively.

Bali aims to establish itself as a leading global health tourism destination, attracting tourists from around the world who seek affordable and quality private medical care. The Bali International Hospital, scheduled to open in 2024, will offer treatment across various medical departments, including cardiology, neurology, ICU, gastroenterology, and orthopedics. The hospital intends to compete with other medical tourism hubs in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand.

Sanur already appeals to tourists as a family-friendly resort destination, with its beautiful beaches, gentle waves, and excellent accommodations. Its proximity to the airport makes it even more convenient for travelers. Moreover, Bali’s reputation as a dental healthcare destination for Australian and New Zealand tourists further enhances its appeal. Tourists can enjoy a vacation in Sanur while also benefiting from affordable and top-quality medical treatment.

Sanur’s transformation into a SEZ with a focus on health tourism not only contributes to the local economy but also establishes Bali as a premier destination for global healthcare services.

Izgradnja novog međunarodnog bolničkog centra Bali je u završnoj fazi, a uskoro će početi instalacija opreme. Međutim, Sanur Specijalna ekonomska zona (SEZ) nije samo bolnica.

Turisti mogu uživati u odmoru u Sanuru, a istovremeno imati povoljno i vrhunsko medicinsko liječenje.
